Four centuries in lower grades

Four batsmen scored centuries and one bowler took seven wickets in the third round of C.C.A. lower grade cricket at the weekend.

The most startling of the centuries was the 116 by Tom White for the Sydenham A team he captains in the second grade against the B team led by the club's former senior captain, Brian Salt. White batted at No 6 and had a fifth wicket partnership of 134 with last week’s century-maker, Ewen Spence, who this time scored 27. White stored his runs from 154 added while he was there, reaching his century with his sixth six; he also hit 13 fours. Another quick centurv was the 104 scored by Dick Young for East-Shirley A in the ninth grade against Lancaster Park. It was the fifth century scored for East this season. Young could well have carried his bat: he was run out from the penultimate ball of the two-hour innings. Derek Banks, a former senior captain, scored his century for OM Collegians in the fourth grade, while the other ton went to Ken Marks, in the eighth grade. His Lancaster Park B team beat the club's A side convincingly. G. McCarthy, of the St Albans third grade side, took seven for 22 from 22 overs against Riccarton, while the next best bowling was in the second grade. Results;-
