Drug count convictions

A Scottish, seaman convicted of importing and supplying cannabis resin told police he bought the drug in Bombay with the intention of selling it to pay off his house mortgage, said Detective Sergeant J. M. Lyall in the District Court yesterday. Angus Gillies, aged 30 (Mr S. G. Gillies met an associate he had known for some time and showed him several blocks of cannabis resin. Arrangements were then made to dispose of the drug. ‘ In a Lyttelton hotel 10 blocks of cannabis resin were sold by the associate to a third party for $2OOO.
