Drivers’ ‘insults’ rejected

Parliamentary reporter

A stream of insults from drivers, asking the Government to pay the costs of the Appeal Court ruling on the ban on award talks, would “get no response" from him, the Prime Minister, Mr Muldoon, has said. He was asked at a press conference if the Cabinet had discussed payment of costs to the Drivers' Federation by the Government. Mr Muldoon said the matter was not, and would not

be, raised by him, nor was it raised at the Cabinet meeting onTuesday by any Minister.

In the split decision of the Court of Appeal, the five judges said that, had they the power,- they would have asked the State to bear the costs of the federation’s case. Mr Muldoon said that the federation had every right to bring its case before the court, but that a stream of insults would not bring any response from him.
