Vice-regal visit

The Governor-General, Sir David Beattie, and Lady Beattie will take up residence at Noahs Hotel in Christchurch for two weeks from Saturday. It is usual for GovernorsGeneral to make one long stay in Christchurch and Dunedin during a term of office, as well as shorter visits for specific events.

A highlight of the Viceregal visit will be an investiture in the Town Hall on November 5 for recipients of the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Sir David and Lady Beattie will also visit schools, the Nga A Wha marae, the Royal Show, and attend several special receptions.
