Nyhavn impresses
Special correspondent Hastings Nyhavn turned in an excellent gallop at the Hastings track yesterday morning and is being set for the $7OOO Battle Eve Plate at Rotorua on Saturday. Fast work was carried out on the plough and No. 1 grass. Both tracks were firm. Nyhavn scampered over 1000 m on the plough in Imin 1.95, the last 800 m in 48.9 s and the final 600 m in 36.85. Nyhavn ran a good second in the open sprint at Waipukurau at his last start and has definitely trained on in great fashion. He has a good record on the Rotorua
track and will be suited by the 1400-metre distance of the Battle Eve Plate. Latona, a stablemate of Nyhavn, was not hurried when running 1000 m in Imin 3.25. the last 600 in 37.25. She is also likely to start at Rotorua. Korvaro sprinted a fast 600 m on his own in 36.85. He needed the run when sixth over 1200 m at Hastings last Saturday. Vordeville ran 1000 m in Imin 3 3s, the last 600 m in 37.25. Louchmore. the filly by Artaius out of La Men. ran 600 m on the No. 1 grass in 37.25. ■
