Admission up for two meetings

Admission charges will be S 3 for the first two days of the New Zealand Cup carnival at Addington Raceway next month. The charges will revert to. $2 for other meetings to be run this season by the Metropolitan Trotting Club. Announcing the increase for the first two days of the Cup meeting, the president, Mr Murray Taylor, said that patrons would find a coupon in their race books on those two days entitling them to attend the meeting on November 16 for a cost of only $l. “As we have budgeted for a T.A.B. payout no greater than last year’s $508,000, the

increased charge will help cover an anticipated deficit of $87,000 for the 1982-83 season created largely by commitments towards the recent purchase of the Addington Raceway property,” said Mr Taylor. The increase had been approved by the Department of Trade and Industry and did not violate the price freeze regulations, he said. “As these are the premier racing events of the season, we trust the public will accept the special charge as reasonable, and also recognise that it will assist us in keeping admission charges to a minimum in the future,” said Mr Taylor.
