National Anthem at park
Sir.—When attending the recent Ranfurly Shield games at Lancaster Park I was somewhat ashamed of the poor opening ceremony. The crackling playing of the National Anthem from what appeared to be a worn out recording did little to arouse the enthusiasm of the 36,000 spectators. If the union cannot afford a donation to one of our splendid bands. I am sure the players would pass the hat around to foot the bill until the Rugby Union gets in a better financial position — Yours, etc., Mr G. HUDSON. October 12, 1982.
