Groups to look at proposals

Two Christchurch City Council planning proposals have been delayed until community groups have more time to consider them. In Addington, a new neighbourhood group will be consulted about the amount of land that should be set aside for a reserve south of a proposed industrial. zone bounded by Antigua, Braddon and Disraeli Streets. Or H. A. Clark said that a local body should not be seen to be proposing a scheme change that advantaged a particular group. Critics of a proposed

change have said that too much land is allowed for industrial use. Any final proposal will be subject to objections at a public hearing. In the Avon Loop, a proposed change of land designations to allow Avon Motor Lodge uses at one end of Hurley Street and housing at the other will be discussed with the North-East Inner City Neighbourhood Group. Cr Geoff Stone said the proposal had been made without consulting all groups that represented public opinion in the area.
