Edwards’ fitness hopes
PA Palmerston North The aggressive Central Districts batsman, Jock Edwards, who has had his right leg in plaster for more than three months, still hopes to play first-class cricket this summer. Edwards broke his leg in two places during a soccer match.
He said that the plaster would be removed or November 2, and if recover;, had been what was expected he should be in action b\ mid-November. The plaster had already been .removed once and replaced with a gaiter or walking plaster, but his toes, ankle and knee had all swol-
len badly, so full plaster had to be used again, Edwards said. While Edwards has been forced out of action by his injury, other members of the Central Districts squad have been going through a rigoroqs training schedule to bring them to top fitness for the Shell programme.
