Pope held to blame
NZPA Tel Aviv Israel's Chief Rabbi, Shlomo Goren, asserted yesterday that Pope John Paul II shared responsibility for the terrorist attack on a synagogue in Rome at the
week-end. saying that he contributed to anti-Jewish feeling by receiving Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestine Liberation Organisation. A two-year-old child was killed and 34 people were
injured in the attack. The Government described the synagogue attack as an “odious crime perpetrated by terrorists against worshippers at prayer, : and children.”
