$218,000 from plant auction

Parliamentary reporter More than $218,000 was paid for 36 items of Ministryof Works plant from Twizel at a recent sale in Sockburn, the Minister of Energy. Mr Birch, has told Parliament.

Answering a question, Mr Birch said the Ministry of Works and Development had expected to fetch $220,070 from the sale. The 36 items had sold for $218,025, so the result was satisfactory.

He did not know whether the German firm. Ed Zublin. which has won the contract for work on the Clyde dam, had bought any of the plant. Only five of the items sold were major pieces of equipment.
