Take good care Labels aid in looking after our clothes
Many New Zealand garments now bear labels which help buyers get the best out of their clothing. Fabrics are now also being sold with cleaning instruction labels. The new care labelling system has cleaning instructions based on an international system called Ginetex. Information in words and symbols explains correct methods of washing, ironing, drying and drycleaning, and whether a garment is bleachable.
Care symbols Wash Tub: The number tells you which process to follow. The bottom number tells you the maximum wash temperature. Labels carry more instructions on washtraction in words.
Bleach Triangle: The triangle tells you whether the article may be bleached. Iron: The number of dots in the iron will tell you how to set your iron: One dot — cool (120 C two dotswarm (160 C three dotshot (210 C Dryclean circle: Tells you the article can ’be drycleaned. The letters (A, P. or F) tell the drycleaners what kind of solvent can be used. The Square: Indicates preferred drying, methods. A Cross through the symbol means "do not."
