Fortunes fail
PA Dunedin Fourteen actors, technical staff, and the sole clerical worker at Dunedin’s Fortune Theatre have been given notice that they will lose their jobs from October 20. A staff statement issued after a meeting on Thursday blamed the management and the trust board for the theatre’s financial difficul-
ties. “We (the staff) feel that the blame lies not with the public but with the management and the trust board for their lack of coherent policy which includes poor choice of plays,” the statement said. “It has been proved in the past that the city can support a professional theatre presenting low budget plays with popular appeal.”
