Boating fatality

A former Christchurch resident died this week in a Queensland boating accident. He was Robert Bruce Sword, aged 32. of Surfers Paradise. Mr Sword was an observer in a speedboat with a waterskier behind. He was thrown overboard when his boat hit the wash of another vessel at Broad Beach. His body was recovered on Thursday.

Mr Sword had worked for the Riccarton Borough Council before moving to the Brisbane area three years ago. His funeral will be in Christchurch next week.
