Mr T. A. de Cleene (Lab.. Palmerston North). Mr N. J. Kirk (Lab., Sydenham). Mr D. F. Quigley (Nat.. Rangiora) and Miss Ruth Richardson (Nat.. Selwyn). Members tabled seven notices of motion. The Family Benefits (Home Ownership) Amendment Bill and the Higher Salaries Amendment Bill were reported back from select committees and set down for second readings next sitting day.

The State Services Amendment Bill, the War Pensions Amendment Bill, the Shop Trading Hours Amendment Bill, and the Wild Animal Control Amendment Bill were all given third readings. The Gas Bill was also read a third time and the Rural Banking and Finance Corporation Amendment Bill was given a second reading. The interrupted secondreading debate on the Sale of Liquor Amendment Bill (No. 2) was resumed but was again interrupted when the House rose at 12.55 p.m.
