Passports impounded
NZPA New Delhi The passports of 12 Sri Lankan cricketers will be impounded to prevent them from going on a controversial cricket tour of South Africa later this month. The Sri Lankan Board of Control for Cricket understood that sporting links with South Africa cbuld raise a storm of protest when the Sri
Lankan team visits Zimbabwe later this month and Australia and New Zealand early next year, according to reports. "The passport impounding action is a sequel to the decision by the Sri Lankan Cabinet to take all necessary steps to prevent the South African tour." the agency said. ■
