Fishing boats in zone
PA Wellington Two foreign fishing boats picked up inside New Zealand waters will be taken to Auckland this week for investigation. The Taiwanese trawler and the Korean long-liner were detected last week inside the 200-mile exclusive economic zone round the Kermadec Islands. The Taiwanese boat, ,51 Fen Yuan, is being escorted by the Navy’s hydrographic survey ship H.M.N.Z.S.
Monowai and is expected to berth in Auckland tomorrow or Wednesday. A fisheries controller. Lieutenant Commander David Davies, said yesterday Korean fishing representatives were asked to order the Korean boat. Dong Jin. into Auckland after it was detected about 60km inside the zone on Thursday. No response had 'been received from the Koreans so far. but he expected, one today.
