Board considers meeting changes

A recommendation that the North Canterbury Catchment Board meet each month, and incorporate the various standing committee meetings on the same day. was received enthusiastically by its administration committee yesterday.

The intention would be that the meeting be completed within one day, thus reducing members’ meeting commitments to one or. at most, two days each month, said Mr E. R Wood, the board’s chief executive officer. "I think this is most exciting." said a committee and board member. Mr M. J. O. Dixon. “It would stop the board going over all the committee works again on Friday, sometimes for the benefit of only three persons."

The committee has authorised staff to prepare a detailed proposal for consideration by the board. The system of incorporating all the meetings into one has been adopted by the Canterbury Education Board.
