In the finals at the Pioneer Stadium, the men’s team beat University-Northcote (Auckland), 3-2, while the women had a straight sets win against Tauranga.

The home team made unforced errors in the early stages of the match but improved as the effective spiking of its player-coach, Tony Barnett, began to take its toll.
