Fishing fee not frozen
The Trade and Industry Department has decided that the fishing licence fee increase this year does not fall within the scope of the price freeze. The Christchurch office of the department asked its head office for a ruling on the matter after it had had three or four complaints about the fee rise. Adult fullseason licences have risen 33 per cent, from $l5 to $2O.
The department has decided that because the Acclimatisation Society, which issues the licences, is not selling specific goods or services it is not a trader as defined by the Price Freeze Regulations and is not covered by them.
