Milton child drowns in river

PA ■ Dunedin An infant boy drowned in the Tokomairiro River at Milton yesterday, and grave •fears are held for the safety of a girl, aged two, he had •been playing with.

The dead child was ■ Shane Leslie Bungard, aged two. of Milton. His companion is. Lora Ann Clark. - The children, who had been' playing together near their homes, were first noticed missing at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. The body of the dead boy was found at 2.45 p.m-. about 200 metres from his house, the police said. Senior-Sergeant A. Huckstep, of Baiclutha, said a search of the area for the missing girl was made immediately. Two constables began dredging the river and divers helped in the search.
