PA Wellington Parliament heard when it sat at 9.30 a.m. yesterday that an imprest supply debate would take place on Tuesday evening..
The advice came from the Leader of the House, Mr Thomson, detailing the programme for Parliament next week.
In answer to a question by the Acting Leader of .the Opposition. Mr Lange, Mr Thomson said “it would not be appropriate” to hold the Estimates debate until the first week of October because of the legislation which Parliament had to pass before then.
Members put seven notices, of motion. Ministers answered 20 questions.
Mr J. J. Terris (L.ab.. Western Hutt) gave notice of his intention to introduce the 'News Media Cross-Owner-ship Bill. The interrupted secondreading debate on the New Zealand Planning Bill was resumed and concluded.
The Speaker, Sir Richard Harrison, advised that the Royal Assent had been given to the Westpac Banking Corporation Bill. The Land Tax (Annual) Bill and the Income Tax (Annual) Bill passed through their committee stages and were set down for a third reading. The committee • stage of the Income Tax Amendment Bill was interrupted by the adjournment at 1 p.m.
