Australia kept the National Panasonic Trans-Tasman Shield and the "world championship" trophy for league’s late teens, the" Tweedshead Seagulls Challenge Cup. The Australians stuck to basics. They tackled and defended so "consistently that the ■ junior Kiwis, rarely looked like breaking through. Australia ran in six tries, two in the first half and four in the. second.
