Rival fruit drinks out soon

Two new rival brands of fruit drink will soon be launched in Christchurch, in what could prove to be a repeat of the flavoured milk war that erupted a year ago. One of the drinks is Cool Change, a fresh fruit drink made by the marketer of Big M, Canterbury Dairy Farmers, Ltd. It will be sold in gable-top cartons, like Big M.

The other drink is Just Juice, a long-life fruit juice made in the North Island and marketed by the Apple and Pear Board in cartons similar to those of the Big M rival, Zap. Both companies behind the new drinks plan heavy promotional campaigns with big advertising budgets. “The fight is on again, but

this time with a different opponent," said a spokesman for Canterbury Dairy Farmers.
