Social Credit

Sir,—l suppose it is somewhat inevitable that Social Credit should appear to be led from the top. After all, the party has only two full-time professionals in Parliament itself. Nevertheless, taking the C.E.R. issue as a case in point. Karren Beauland should be aware that the line taken at the recent conference by Ross Doughty was a line built up independently by his committee, after the detailed research for which he is known in the party Armed neutrality and all its ramifications was a new concept for Social Credit, so that the full debate, which your paper appears to be sponsoring, will probably continue over the next two years. Finally, there seems to be a strange implication in Miss Beanland’s otherwise most perceptive article of last Friday that maturity is best shown through disunity. The glare of the television lights would ironically appear to hide any party’s disagreements. - Yours, etc., RICHARD BACH. September 3. 1982.
