Warners Hotel sold
l Warners Hotel in Cathedral Square has been sold to the two-man company which runs eight Super Liquorman outlets in the North Island. The new owners. Messrs John Butterfield and Peter Sullivan, will take over today after the previous manager and part-owner’, Mr Ernest Hunter, sold his share. Mr Butterfield said his company was the largest privately owned liquor outlet in New Zealand, and as well as North Island interests had recently acquired Warners and the James Shand wine and spirit store in Victoria Street.
The company intended to retain the hotel bar in its present form but would launch a big promotion for the bottle store business in the next few months, Mr Butterfield said.
