The rally in resource issues strengthened on the Australian share-market, although sellers gained. the upper hand towards the close. Brokers said that institutional traders were active. Turnovers rose and rises outnumbered falls. Analysts attributed the buoyancy to the record trading on Wall Street, the escalating gold price, and indications of a further easing of U.S. interest rates after the U.S. Federal Reserve cut the discount rate to 10 per cent.
