Newz return

i The' Newz, the former Christchurch band who are resident in Melbourne, return to New Zealand next month for a “busman’s holiday?’ According to Christine Chapman, the head of the Newz fan club, the band will be playing at the Hillsborough Tavern for three weeks from September 15, followed by a week down south, and . then a further six weeks at the Hillsborough. Some of the band were becoming a bit homesick, she said. The Newz had just returned from a three week

tour in the Snowy Mountains, supporting Australian Crawl, who apparently ’ rated the Newz highly. The Newz were also planning to record a demonstration tape while in New Zealand with the intention of releasing a single. The recording was being done with the backing of the (confidential) recording company, to whom the band had signed. The new manager of the Newz, who had been working with them for a month, had formerly worked with Dragon and Sherbert, said Ms Chapman.
