Successful season for Suzuki factory
The Suzuki factory have had a successful season at international level. Franco Uncini convincingly' wrapped up the 500 cu cm ' road racing championships with a great win at the British Grand Prix. The interest now centres on the fight for minor placings between Graeme Crosby, Freddie Spencer, Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene.
Sheene. Britain's former world champion, will be unable to race again this northern season after his bad crash in practice for the British grand prix at Silverstone.
Roberts, probably the finest road racer to come to Europe from the United States, is a likely runner-up to the new champion Italian, Uncini. and hopes are high that the talented New Zealand rider, Crosby, will claim the third place. The rider who poses the greatest threat to his chances is "Fast” Freddie Spencer, a works rider for Honda.
In the moto-cross field. Suzuki riders are virtually unbeatable in the 125 cu cm and open classes. Another New Zealander, Dave Hiscock. is doing particularly well in Europe, competing in Formula One events. The best news for Hiscock is the recent announcement that he will be assisted bySuzuki Great Britain. Hiscock has proven to be easily the most successful privateer in the British and World Formula One championships. Earlier this month, hq was leading the British series and was in the top three of the world series.
