Train trip
The restoration of a war memorial is the reason for a •*. train excursion to Arthur's Pass on Sunday. August 29. The memorial is the steam engine Ab6oB Passchendaele. In 1925 it was designated a memorial to railwaymen killed during World War I. The organiser of the excursion, Mr Neil Cooper, says it will cost between $15,000 and $20,000 to restore the engine. He hopes that about $3OO will be raised from the excursion. About half the 264 seats are already booked.
