Coronation to be clinic site

Coronation Hospital, in Centaurus Road, Cashmere, had been chosen as the site for the Christchurch abortion clinic, the North Canterbury Hospital Board was told yesterday. The clinic would be in an existing building in the hospital grounds and there were no adjoining residential properties, which made it the most suitable place available, said Mrs L. C. Gardiner, chairman of the board's health services committee.

When the committee discussed the site earlier this month, it decided not to release details of its location, because the building was still being used. ' ■ "The building has now been vacated, and so it is now possible to announce where it is;” Mrs Gardiner said. The board was criticised by the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child for deciding not to release the clinic’s site until now.
