Grocery rise ‘not 1%'
Parliamentary reporter The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Templeton, said yesterday, that grocery prices would not rise 1 per cent because of rail charge and fuel tax increases. He was asked by the member for Lyttelton. Mrs Ann Hercus. whether the chairman of the Manufacturers' Federation transport com-
miltee was correct in that assessment, which was published. Mr Templeton said that he had been advised that any increases would be considerably less than 1 per cent. The figure, had also been disputed by the general manager of the Railways Corporation, Mr T. M. Hayward. Mr Templeton declined to give an assessment.
