The Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association has raised $lOOO in a fund-raising campaign. The W.E.A. wants to raise $lOO,OOO in the next two years to pay for its centre building and its work. The appeal was a response to a Government announcement that all funding for the W.E.A. would end this December. It, was launched at a public meeting and since then donations and

pledges have been arriving at the centre in Gloucester Street. The W.E.A.’s secretary, Mr A. A. Mr Dingwall said a big campaign for funds would begin in about a month when the W.E.A. would distribute leaflets calling for public support.
