One-day cricket league
Sussex stayed six points clear of Middlesex in the one-day cricket league on Sunday, but the match of the day was undoubtedly the one between Essex and Warwickshire. The South African, Ken McEwan, scored 156 not out for Essex and his team, from its 40 overs, scored the remarkable high total of 299 for four wickets. But Warwickshire, last in the league table, made the runs required, for six wickets, with three balls to spare. Sussex and Middlesex meet at Hove next Sunday. Scores Surrey 156 (A.
