Some more Thraces
. When the Greeks have a word for it, they like to use the word often. Samothrace is a case in point. As readers weie quick to poirit out yesterday, an island of that name can be found in the Aegean Sea, as well as another of identical appellation in the lonian Sea. Thus Tuesday’s crossword clue was correct. The larger, Aegean Samothrace has greater claim to classical allusionS than its lonian namesake. To round put the picture, the third Samothrace to bear that name is the settlement on the Aegean Island.
