Arthur’s Pass excursion
An excursion return train trip from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass has been arranged for Sunday, August 29. Stops are planned between Springfield and Arthur's Pass to allow trippers to take photographs and for refreshments. The train will be dieselhauled and will consist of three heated carriages capable of seating 264 passengers. The trip will cost adults $l9 and children $lO. It is hoped that the venture will raise about $3OO towards restoring Ferrymead Historic Park’s Ab6oB locomotive to working order. The train will leave Christchurch at 8.20 a.m. and return at 5.30 p.m. Tickets are available at Piersons Hobby Centre in Addington or by post from Flat 2. 10 Kipling Street, Christchurch 2.
