Big changes likely ?
PA Dunedin Big changes are likely in the Wallabies’ team for the second test in Wellington if the team announced for tomorrow’s match against Otago is an indication. The coach, Bob Dwyer, said during the week that he intended naming a shadow test side for the Otago match, and the team named last evening includes significant changes in at least five positions. The Otago match will be the tourists’ main preparation for the second test, which they must win to keep the series alive.
The team named for . the match includes five changes from that which took the field in the first test last Saturday and each of the new players has a big chance of enhancing his test prospects. Three of the changes are in the backline where the injury-troubled Queenslander, Andrew Slack, has been reintroduced at centre in place of Gary Ella in an effort to build a mid-field combination with the test certainty, Michael Hawker. Slack's 20-year-old state team-mate, Ross Hanley, has been introduced on the right
wing in place of the experienced Peter Grigg. But probably the most significant selections are those of the half-back, Dominic Vaughan, in place of the test regular. Phillip Cox, and the flanker, Steve Tuynman. instead of the experienced Simon Poidevin. The team is: Roger Gould: Dave Campese, Slack. Hanley, Hawker. Mark Ella (captain): Vaughan: Peter Lucas; Chris Roche. Steve Williams. Duncan Hall. Tuynman: Andy Mclntyre, Bruce Malouf. Meadows. Reserves— Forwards: Lance Walker. John Griffith. Ross Reynolds. Backs: Phillip Cox. Tim Lane. Peter Grigg. .
