Gas company set up
PA Wellington A joint company has been set up to investigate the feasibility of natural gas liquids extraction from the Maui and Kapuni fields, the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) announced, yesterday. Petrocorp will own 60 per cent of the company, and Shell BP Todd the remaining 40 per cent. Mr Birch said that the Government would like to see a natural gas liquids plant started by 1985, with a commissioning date of 1988. Potential earnings from the plant could be as high as $5OO million a year.
