CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS BY AIR lATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Edition 24 and lATA Restricted Articles Regulations Edition 23 THE 24TH EDITION of the lATA (International Air Transport Association) Dangerous Goods Regulations will come into force on December 31,1982, and this forms a part of Civil Aviation Safety Order No. 13 "Carriage of Dangerous Goods in Aircraft” This document prescribes a schedule of items, the carriage by air of which are prohibited or which may only be carried subject to specified conditions or restrictions. Copies of this new edition, which includes new regulations are available from the Government Printing Office, International Section, Private Bag, Wellington at a cost of $59.50 each, plus post and packaging $4.80. This will enable operators to become familiar with the new regulations before they become effective on December 31, 1982. The current 23rd Edition, titled “Restricted Articles Regulations” will apply up to and including December 30, 1982. The 24th edition of this lATA publication introduces a new requirement related to the training of personnel concerned with the handling and transporting of dangerous goods and this is reflected m a new paragraph for inclusion in Civil Aviation Safety Order No. 13, which reads as follows: “All personnel concerned with the handling and transporting of dangerous goods shall be trained in accordance with the training provisions of the lATA Regulations.” Persons or Organisations wishing to obtain copies of Civil Aviation Information Circulars A 65/ 82 and B 35/82, dealing with the carriage of dangerous goods in aircraft may obtain copies free of charge front: . t The Assistant Director of Civil Aviation, (Flight Operations).
