Kintail Lad favoured

Special correspondent Dunedin

Kintail Lad should confirm his reputation as one of the most promising gallopers in the South Island with a win in the first leg of the Otago Racing Club’s T.A.B. double at Wingatui tomorrow.

1 'Kintail Lad has had the chance to-freshen?since he finished 11th in, the Winter Cup at Riccarton a,fortnight ago)-He ran the Winter Cup winner, Magellan, to half a length in the Brabazon Handicap (1400 m a week earlier with a powerful late run.

His lead up to the Brabazon was a win in track record time of Imin 9.8 s for 1200 m at Washdyke on July 24. The switch to a wet track tomorrow should not worry Kiritail Lad. He was twice placed on heavy tracks at Wingatui in June.

He ran second to Magic Paul over 1200 m and filled a similar placing behind Scorcher over 1400 m. Scorcher, which is among his rivals tomorrow, won easily that day when in receipt of 4kg from Kintail Lad.

The rain affected track has brought Supremity into consideration. She beat ' a good field over 1400 m on a heavy track at Wingatui in June.

Scorcher has since performed creditably in three starts on top of the ground, he-finished fourth at Riccarton last week. Jane Again and Karanga. are others in the field which should be suited by the track. Medamac, Lord Venture and Meadow Miss are a likely trio for the second leg of the double.
