School history sells
A booklet produced by the Christchurch City Council on the history of the old Normal School has sold out. A revised edition of 300 copies has been printed to meet the continuing demand. There were 500 copies in the first edition. The booklet was the first of a series that the council would produce on the city's historic buildings, said the assistant town planner, Mr Richard Johnson.
"It was a pioneering effort and the response has been most encouraging." he said. The council had had requests for copies from throughout New Zealand, he said. The second book in the series' will be about Shand's Emporium in Hereford Street
