Council may buy land
Land valued at $87,000 might be developed into sports fields for Heathcote residents. The Heathcote County Council’s town-planning com-' mittee recommended last evening that a meeting be' arranged to discuss the possible buying of land in Wors-
leys Road. At present the land is. owned , by"'Christ’s ~ College. The committee agreed it might only buy part of the 21.5 ha property. < The County Engineer, Mr D. J. May. told the meeting that the land would easily
■ accommodate two rugby or soccer pitches — even a cricket pitch. It also recommended that the Christchurch Drainage Board be notified of the council’s possible intentions, and that comments be sought on the proposal.
