Well served for transport

Marlborough is particularly well served by a variety of transport operators. Air New Zealand provides three regular flights each day in and out of Woodbourne. the commercial airfield. Safe Air. also operating from Woodbourne for the New Zealand Railways, provides a cargo service, including a car and driver service as required. Air Albatross links Blenheim with Wellington and

Nelson regularly each day except Sunday. Flights in twin-engined aircraft can be chartered to any licensed airfield by arrangement. Float Air. of Picton. undertakes a wide range of charter commitments within the Marlborough Sounds and elsewhere in New’ Zealand. Tour party and photography flights can be arranged and fishing and hunting trips are particularly well catered for. A rendezvous with a fishing launch in

the outer sounds is within 20 minutes of Wellington. 'James ' Air includes Palmerston North with Nelson and Wellington in its regular service to Blenheim. Charter, “anywhere at any time." is also provided. The Marlborough Aero Club, based at the Omaka Airfield, also offers charter flights. Road services are provided to and from Picton, Nelson, the West Coast and Canterbury . by Newmans

Coachlines. and Deluxe Motor Services has a regular bus connection between Blenheim and Picton. The New Zealand Railways ferry, besides providing the inter-island connection for rail and road traffic, offers the possibility of dav' excursions to Wellington. The passenger rail service from Christchurch to Picton leaves at 7.30 a.m. each day. and the return service leaves at about 2 p.m.
