Furniture maker quick to seize advantage
A determined assault on the Australian furniture and interior design market will be launched by the New Zealand interior design firm. Nova Interiors. Ltd.
The company has moved quickly to take’ advantage of CER as soon as it comes into force, to launch a range of top quality New ' Zealandmade furniture on the Australian market.
It is planning to' open a small chain of medium sized showrooms in the major Australian cities to display the New Zealand-made items. These will include lounge suites, dining and lounge furniture, furniture components and carpets. Many of the items will come from
Nova’s own factories and some made under licence to famous Overseas companies, but it will also export items from other manufacturers providing they reach the quality standards set by the company. The Australian High Commissioner in Wellington. (Mr James Webster) recently pointed to Nova as an example other New Zealand firms could follow. •‘This move endorses Nova's determination to make CER work to New Zealand's advantage and this is the correct aim and approach for any businessman. Nova's factories will be giving Australian producers added competition. The furn-
ishings. the designs are unique, and the development of the Australian move provides proof of Nova's direction and management" said the High Commissioner.
Nova made its first moves into the Australian market last year with exports of furniture and furniture components and interior contracts worth $500,000. Mr T. R. Reesby. managing director of Nova Holdings, says that the company is no stranger to operating overseas. It has been responsible for the interior design and furnishings of several New Zealand Embassies abroad — including that in Peking.
