Suits in three days
Indian tailors provide an astonishingly rapid service, completing suits in two or three days. Souvenirs are usually very cheap and it is better to buy them at the markets where you can bargain for a reasonable price. People who are connoisseurs of curry will be interested to buy garam masala, the highly spiced curry powder which is available from certain Indian grocers. Most waters are safe for swimming provided that they are enclosed by a reef. Do not swim outside the reef without ascertaining whether it is safe to do so. Sharks and
other dangerous fish are not common inside the reefs. It is advisable to take an old pair of sneakers for protection against the coral when reef-walking at low tide. Mosquitos are occasionally bothersome and usually make their presence felt about sundown, so keep windows and doors closed or covered during twilight. Most of the tourist hotels have netting over the windows but if you are attending outdoor entertainment it is advisable to take a repellent. R. A. MORRISON Farrington Avenue, Christchurch.
