Excellent range of sports activities offered
There is only one thing to do in Fiji, and that is to relax. Relaxing is easy because everything about Fiji — its warmth, its smiling people, its easy-going atmosphere — seduces the visitor into surrendering to a world without time. But there are many ways of relaxing, quite apart from the ever-popular pastimes of swimming and sunbathing, which make these tropical islands an ideal destination for visitors.
' The call of the warm sea is irresistible. Adventurous water-lovers may choose to gb sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, big-game fishing, or water-skiing. Visitors of all ages can delight in reefexploring, cruising, or viewing the coral from glass-bottom boats. Resorts offer an ever-widening range ol activities. Excellent tennis facilities, golf courses, even a bowling green (at “The
Fijian”) are of international standard. Indoor entertainment is also offered: pool, table tennis, chess, monopoly, video movies and so on. Sightseeing is another worthy way of relaxing, with a wide variety of tours available. Viti Levu offers village tours, city tours of Suva, river tours, excursions by horseback, by foot or by bus into the isolated interior, or cruises to some of the
300-odd islands that make up Fiji Culture buffs will find Fiji a source of fascination, thanks to both the. native Fijian culture and the strong Indian influence. Visits to Pacific Harbour’s Cultural Centre and Marketplace and to Orchid Island are worth-while stops on any tourist’s itinerary, but there are also many opportunities for visitors to observe or participate in the Fijian way of life.
