New facility for ease of selection

Today sees the opening of Christchurch's first office systems centre, where office requirements can be discussed, equipment demonstrated and instruction given away from the distractions and interruptions that are inevitable out in the showroom or back at the office. The centre is on the premises of George Berryman, Ltd, above the showroom at 77 Ferry Road. It is spacious, with ample room for demonstration purposes, and js served by two demonstrators on the staff — Kent Berryman, who is a specialist consultant for 1.8. M. typewriters, and Janine Boyle, who is “fully conversant” with all the types of equipment that Berryman’s has to offer, according to the general manager, Mr Malcolm Rickerby. This range of equipment includes nearly everything for the most fully equipped office, from 1.8. M. electronic typewriters with a wide

range of capabilities and the possibility of being plugged in to a “phrasestore” memory, to the full range of Casio desk-top print and display machines, and the Sanyo dictation equipment in both the standard mini and the microcassette formats. Either of these can be hand-held for easy dictation in the office, car or board room, and all models are matched with sophisticated transcribers for the typists. Along with the opening of the centre, Berryman’s has released the Sanyo automatic shredder, being shown in the South Island for the first time and offered at the remarkably low price of $720. Besides being a newlyappointed agent for 1.8. M. typewriters, from mid-May, Berryman’s also stocks the Brother range of typewriters

from the Intermediate Electronic, priced at $1095, to the more elaborate EMI and EM2 office typewriters, with features such as a threepitch selector providing 10, 12 and 15 letters to the inch, and the daisy wheel providing a wide selection of typefaces.

Another agency recently acquired by Berryman’s is for the Canon top-of-the-field range of desk-top calculators, w’ell-known for quality and durability. To celebrate the opening of the centre. Berryman's is making some special offers, such as $lOO worth of 1.8. M. supplies with each 1.8. M. typewriter bought from the firm before September 30. and a carton of rolls with each Casio print-out calculator.

Representatives of 1.8. M. are in attendance at the centre all this week, demonstrating their latest wordprocessing equipment.

There is ample visitor parking at any time alongside Berryman’s Ferry Road premises.
