PA Blenheim Marlborough had no problems beating off Buller’s Seddon Shield challenge by 46-7 at Blenheim on Saturday. The challenger contained the holder well in the battle for set possession, particularly from line-outs, but had no answer when Marlborough started putting its characteristic game together midway through the first
spell. Marlborough has one more challenge for the shield this season, against West Coast next month. ' Scorers: Marlborough 46 (Paul Phillips (4), Brian Hunter, Brian Ford, Terry Wilson, Steve Marfel, Richard Low, Alistair Lash tries, Marfell (2), Kevin Sutherland conv.); Buller 7 (David Baird try, Rex Mumm pen. goal).
