Little Gem wins
Two former - Canterbury, trotters, Little Gem and the favourite, Perfume, finished ahead of the second favourite, Gipsy’s Yodel, in the $7500 Victoria Trotters’ Oaks at Moonee Valley last Saturday. Little Gem, one of nine horses purchased by the Kilmore trainer, Bob Knight,, towards the end of June —; Ashley Knight was one of the others — had been a winner at her only other start. Knight’s son, Vin, drove Little Gem in her two victories. He had driven only one trotter previously. A filly by Game Pride from a speedy mare in Duvet. Little Gem was previously trained at Rahgiora by R. A. Williams. She trotted the 2400 m at Moonee Valley in 3min 12.35. • The former Dunedin--trained filly, Kelly Dillon, was successful at,Bankstown on Monday night, when she rated 2min 7.7 s for the 1760 m. An odds-on favourite, she
had . finished second at her two other starts in Sydney from Bill Ellis’s team. The previous Friday she went under by a head to Our Duffy, a Timely Knight two-year-old formerly trained at Yaldhurst by George Noble. Our Duffy started at 8 to 1, while Kelly Dillon was a 7 to 2 chance.
