Taxis want increase
The National Taxi Proprietors’ Federation has applied for a fares rise to cover the petrol price increase in the Budget, said the president of the Canterbury branch, Mr G. T. Mather, yesterday. It has lodged an application with • the Ministry of Transport in Wellington to increase the flag-fall hire from 85c to 90c, he said. Mr Mather said that the application would not be affected by the price freeze because the regulations allowed for the recovery of any increased costs imposed by the Government.
